Jamshied Sharifi is a tremendously talented musician well versed in many styles of music: classical, jazz, and world music among others. We are fortunate to offer a new recording of his composition, "Samarra", on Ivory's Steinway D Concert Grand. The piece is remarkable for its originality and style, and the recording showcases some of the more unique aspects of Ivory's production capabilities. Jamshied Sharifi is a New York-based composer, producer, and keyboardist. He has composed the scores for the feature films Harriet The Spy, Down To Earth, Clockstoppers, Muppets From Space, and Tracks, as well as contributing music to numerous other films and television shows. As a producer, arranger, and keyboardist, he has recorded with Paula Cole, Ray Charles, Dream Theater, and many others. His world-inspired debut CD, A Prayer For The Soul Of Layla, was named ‘Best World Album’ by New Age Voice magazine, and ‘Best Album of the Year’ by music critic and syndicated radio host John Diliberto. His new CD, entitled One, will be released in the spring 2007.
